Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. The people who aren't familiar with this term frequently think that it's an island that's west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to every aspect of the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is often referred to as her birthplace. However, she only resided there for a very short duration. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa, Ontario. She wanted to become professional, however because of a huge expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inches tall. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in Brugel's case it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school which pushed her in the right direction. Teacher who recommended she try to get a role for school's annual production. Following a trial the role, she was chosen as the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the 20+ years that followed, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the character of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the only Canadian member.
